Say hello to the management team that keeps IPU ticking:
Robert qualified from Sheffield University with a Business degree way back when dinosaurs roamed the earth (his words!). He has worked at IPU all his working life and as owner MD is very passionate about IPU, its people, customers and suppliers. He wants to oversee IPU being a brilliant company to do business with. Family life sees his wife doing voluntary work, while their 3 boys work in London. Their daughter is reading biology at Bristol University. Racing historic cars around the UK and Europe keeps Robert off the streets, although travel with Sarah is high on the passions too!
Ian joined IPU in 1990 and was appointed a director in 1993, aged 27. Ian takes great pleasure in looking back at the role he played in helping IPU grow. He believes it’s never dull at IPU, which is what motivates Ian to come to work each day. Outside of work, Ian enjoy holidays in the sun, hopefully with his golf clubs. Sport really makes him tick, and Ian loves nothing more than to get involved in competitions and matches.
David boasts an impressive 25 years of service with IPU. Now as Starting Divisional Director, David manages worldwide sales, all technical engineering aspects of Starting and supplier relationships.
Outside of work David has been married to Jane for over 20 years with whom he has two children. He runs a children’s football academy, owns a menagerie of animals including three Siamese and one Bengal cat and 2 horses, and is growing the world’s hottest chillies.
Doug started his career at Michelin Tyre Company, completing a combined mechanical/electrical apprenticeship before a spell as a production foreman. Subsequently moving across to the IT industry, he spent 15 years in the field of engineering applications software for aerospace, automotive and oil & gas exploration industries for companies such as HP, Oracle, Parametric Technology, Tecnomatix and more recently has been a director of Ecommnet Ltd. Doug was appointed as Divisional Director of Fuel and Oil in 2015. Outside of work Doug enjoys the odd game of golf, has a keen interest in cars – both practical classics and motorsport, loves cooking and spends time supporting his two teenage boys in their school rugby and hockey activities.
Andy has clocked up over 25 years joint service and is Divisional Director for the BSC Division within IPU, heading up its day to day operations. He now has the added responsibility of Business Development Director. Outside of work, Andy is an avid Aston Villa fan which leads to many miserable weekends spent contemplating another loss!
Shawn started his career as an electrical apprentice with Coronet EM, a manufacturer of generating sets and pumps, gaining an ONC in Electrical Engineering. Prior to joining IPU, he has worked within the Power generation industry for 28 years for companies such as Newman Generators, Munradtech Generators, Dale Power Systems and Cummins Power Generation. He has a wealth of experience, holding various positions such as Senior Test engineer, Production Manager, Engineering Manager, Business Development Manager and Sales Manager. During his career he has traveled the world extensively from the Americas to the Far East and considers this the greatest benefit of his career.
Steve started out a million miles from engineering and marketing: reading law at Birmingham University while the ink was still wet on Magna Carta. He spent nearly 30 years in the IT industry working in sales for a computer dealership, as a regular columnist for Computer Shopper magazine and in marketing for Kyocera, a print-copy manufacturer. Steve joined IPU in 2013 as Head of Marketing and has gradually focused the company’s activities towards web-based digital marketing. Outside work, Steve likes loud music, drumming and coming up with creative excuses why he can’t help his daughter clean her horse.
Louise joined IPU in March 2015, having been HR Director and HR Manager for a number of years across a range of industries. Louise is responsible for our People and Culture strategy ensuring we attract, retain and maximise the talent, potential and performance of our brilliant people at IPU. Louise moved to the Midlands in 2008 from Scotland and outside of work enjoys spending time with family and friends and being a soccer mum to two lads aged 16 and 17.
